Richard Paul Lopez Obituary
Richard Paul Lopez entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, in Las Cruces.
He was born Jan. 26, 1950, in Tularosa. He graduated from Tularosa High School in 1968, where he was an avid athlete. He was known all over the state for his participation in fastpitch softball, where he and his teammates won many tournaments and earned several trophies.
Richard had a big, warm and loving heart and enjoyed helping his community, church and friends. He worked for the Mescalero Apache Tribe with many wonderful people for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Lopez.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dana; his stepchildren Jammie, Jacob and Brian Smith; parents-in-law John and Vicci Lortz; brother Raymond Lopez and his wife, Amy; and sisters Barbara Ramirez and her husband, Bobby, Dolores Hinton and Nathaleen Martinez and her husband, Gil. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, godchildren and a multitude of dear friends and relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at 10 a.m. Internment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his family to help defer medical and funeral expenses.
