Rita C. Kezar Obituary
Rita C. Kezar, 69, of Cloudcroft, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo.
Rita C. Kezar was born June 4, 1942, in Carlsbad to George and Angeline (Jentgen) Fischer. She married Fredrick A. Kezar on July 25, 1961, in Rhode Island. After living in Iowa for several years, they moved to Loving in 1976. Rita worked for the post office for more than 25 years, retiring as postmaster of the Loving post office in 2002.
After retiring, Fred and Rita moved to Cloudcroft, where they built their home. She enjoyed bird watching and quilting. Rita loved spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Ann Ballard; and brothers Edward "Buddy" Fischer, Virgil Fischer and Raymond Fischer.
Survivors include her husband, Fred A. Kezar, of Cloudcroft; two daughters: Carolyn Caudill and her husband, Carroll, of Carlsbad, and Patty Hunt and her husband, Johnny, of Chandler, Okla.; son Fred Kezar Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Lake Arthur; four grandchildren: Brent Hunt, Richard Hunt, Misty Davis and Kiah Caudill; three great-grandchildren: Adlee Hunt, Braylee Hunt and Wyatt Hunt; siblings Flora Jeanette Verhines, William Fischer, Geraldine Burrhus, Loretta Sughrue, Kenneth Fischer, John Fischer, Joseph Lawrence Fischer and Ronald David Fischer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 1001 North Canal St., Carlsbad.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 112 N. Alameda St., Carlsbad, with the Rev. Tommy Lawson officiating.
