Rita Luna Flores

Obituary Condolences

Beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend
The family of Rita Luna Flores sadly proclaims the end of her earthly tasks and the beginning of her heavenly ones. Rita was beautiful inside and out and fostered a wonderful heart. She was always so full of life and surrounded herself with love, faith and friendship. She was a spiritual nurturer who showed everyone how to trust in God and never hesitated to help those around her, even if there wasn't any money. And boy, could she dance!
A 1966 graduate of Alamogordo Senior High School, Rita earned her Bachelor of Arts in education in 1988 from New Mexico State University, and her master's degree in education from the University of Phoenix in 2000. Rita's passion was teaching; she was an elementary school educator for 19 years. She was a great teacher loved by all her students. Rita used the talents God gave her to do her job well.
In addition to her many volunteer activities with her students, she was closely involved with her church.
She is survived by her fiancé, Andrew Sepesi, of Las Cruces; daughter, Rosabelle Flores, of Las Cruces; sons, Capt. Federico Flores III and his wife Rachel, currently based in Okinawa, Japan, Laurence Flores and Nicolas Flores, both of Las Cruces; grandchildren, Azriella Flores, Raife Monett, Federico Flores IV and Diego Flores; her mother, Aurelia Luna; brothers, Juan Luna Jr. and his wife Anna, Joe Luna and his wife Rita, Ernest Luna, Peter Luna and his wife Jenny Luna, and Benjamin Luna and his wife Claudia, all of Alamogordo; and sister, Patsy Sanchez, of Albuquerque.
She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Luna; sisters, Lela Nejeres, Soledad Cavelli, Maria Ortega and Juanita Luna; and brother, Paul Luna.
Rita touched the lives of so many people and will truly be missed. We love her with all our hearts, and cry tears of both joy and sadness. We know she is in heaven looking down upon us with a smile.
