Obituary Condolences

A rosary will be recited for Robert Bibanco Ortiz, 66, of Roswell, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated for Robert at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Father Juan Montoya, O.F.M., officiating. Viewing will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday at 8 p.m., following rosary.
Robert was born March 20, 1942, to Abraham V. Ortiz and Esperanza Bibanco in Alamogordo. He and Maria Guerrero were married July 17, 1969, in El Paso, Texas. She survives him in the family home. Robert worked at TMC/Nova Bus for 26 years. He was a member and president of the International Association of Machinists Local Lodge 2577. He loved his family and enjoyed deer hunting, camping, cookouts, dancing and listening to music. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, especially his great-granddaughter. He was always ready to help those less fortunate than him and would speak up for them. Robert loved and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and his family.
In addition to his wife, Maria, Robert is survived by his daughter Daria Gabaldon and her husband, Raymond, of Roswell; two grandsons, Ramon Gabaldon Jr. and Jose Luis Gabaldon; a granddaughter, Amanda Padilla and her husband, Nick; one great-granddaughter, Nicolette Padilla, of Roswell; his mother, Esperanza Ortiz, of Roswell; four brothers, Frank Ortiz and wife, Gloria, from Arizona, Ignacio Ortiz and wife, Peggy, from Roswell, Eustacio Ortiz and wife, Juana, of Roswell, and Abraham Ortiz Jr. and wife, Jeannie, from Glen Bernie, Mass.; four sisters, Toni Rodriguez and husband, Manuel, from Alamogordo, Connie Silva and her husband, Danny, from Bakersfield, Calif., and Paula Ortiz and Josie Chavez, of Roswell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Abraham Ortiz, and two brothers, Gregorio and Jose Ortiz.
