Robert J. (Bob) Persinger Obituary

Retired master sergeant, Robert J. (Bob) Persinger, 51, of Alamogordo and formerly of Ponca, Neb., passed away on Sept. 24, 2014, in Pensacola, Fla., after two-and-half year battle with brain cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, Neb., with Father Andrew L. Sohm officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, Neb.
Visitation with the family present will begin at 6:00 P.M., with a rosary service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Neb.

Bob was born on Nov. 21, 1962, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Donald and Joyce (McPherson) Persinger. He married Becki Hall in 1984 and together they had two children, Justin and Kristie.
Bob served his country for 23 years and four months, retiring as a master sergeant of the Air Force at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo. He was a veteran of Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He was a member of the South Sioux City American Legion Post 307, the Legion Riders and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Alamogordo.
Bob lived his life to the fullest and was happiest camping, hunting and riding his Harley.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbi Jo of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Justin (Amanda) Persinger of Ponca, Neb.; daughter, Kristie (Aaron) Steingiesser of the Netherlands; five grandchildren, Madison, Emalyn, Daniel, Silas and Amy. He is also survived by his parents, Don and Joyce Persinger of Sioux City, Iowa; His brothers, Dean (Paula) of Lincoln, Neb., Joel (Mindy) also of Sioux City, Iowa, Patrick of Minnesota; a sister, Donna Divis of Boxelder, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Cody Divis, Dylan Divis, Austin Persinger, Tanner Persinger, David Sorenson and Sidney Persinger.
He was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
