Obituary Condolences

Beloved father, grandfather and brother                  
Ramon O. Montano, 79, of Alamogordo, passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, in Lubbock, Texas. Ramon O. Montano was born on Sept. 17, 1928, in Corona. 
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the 3rd infantry division. He received a Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars and a United Nations Service Medal. He retired from Civil Service at HAFB in 1988 with 35 years of service as a firefighter and in transportation. He worked for the Alamo Bus Company for numerous years. He was an active member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in La Luz as a choir member. His favorite pastimes included arrow head hunting, hiking and relaxing at the casino.
Survivors include his daughter Gloria Torres and husband Doug, of Socorro; granddaughters, Christine Fresquez and husband Anthony of the family home, Rene Maldonado and husband Peter, of Socorro; brother, Luciano Montano and wife Connie, of Alamogordo; great-grandchildren, Orlando "Pod" and Marissa "Bear" Fresquez of the family home, Aaron and Cadence Maldonado, of Socorro; and a special niece, Louisa Frederick and husband Jim, of Burkburnett, Texas.
He was preceded in death his parents, Miguel and Tomasita Montano, his brothers, Louie and Eraquio Montano and his beloved wife of 53 years, Bernice Montano. 
A Rosary will be recited by Dolores Otero at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church with Deacon Don Dickman, celebrant.
Pallbearers include, Joe Provencio, Haskel Hall, Jeff Aragon, Jerry Aragon, Gabriel Otero, Jacob Provencio.
Honorary Pallbearers include, Monica Montano, Victoria Montano, Eloy Chavez, Joey Sedillo, Orlando Otero and Emilio Otero. 
Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church before the Rosary.
