Roy Alvin "El Royo" Archuleta Sr. Obituary
Roy Alvin Archuleta Sr. passed away surrounded by his family and friends on June 17, 2017 in Alamogordo, New Mexico at the age of 83. He was born in Jaroso, Colorado and is predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Esther Archuleta; son, Joseph Archuleta; brothers, Charlie and Pete; and sister, Daisy Deherrera.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 35 years, Maria Archuleta; son, Roy Jr. of the family home; son, David Archuleta of Pueblo; daughters, Anita Asgari and Carol Archuleta of Pueblo; nephew, Manuel (Mary) Archuleta, and niece, Evelyn Armijo (who were like a son and daughter); brother, Robert Archuleta; cousins, Elena Martines, Richard Romero, and Betty Deherrera; numerous nieces, nephew, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and good friends.

Roy moved to Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 11 from San Luis, CO. At the age of 17, year 1953,he volunteered for the Army and served 2 years in Germany. He worked at the Pueblo Army Depot for 16 years. He then went to work at Thule AB, Greenland in 1977. Later he moved to Albuquerque, NM and worked at the Bureau Reclamation for a few years.

Roy went to work for White Sands Missile Range Frequency as a civilian. He retired with 35 years of Federal Civilian Service contributed to the Department of Defense. Roy was a hardworking man. His hobbies were gardening, traveling and he could fix anything. He self-published his book "Where We Come From" in 2016.

The memories left behind will forever be cherished and his legacy will live on forever through those who loved him.

The memorial service for Roy Archuleta will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Porfiro Rodriguez, officiating.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

The Archuleta family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
