Roy Conrad Overton, 88, of Alamogordo, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in Alamogordo.
He was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Burkburnett, Texas, to James Conrad and Edna (Griffith) Overton. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in New Guinea. He had his own private pilot's license for many years. He retired from civil service at White Sands Missile Range, where he was the air field controller, in 1995. He was a longtime resident of Oro Grande before moving to Alamogordo in 2005.     
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. and Birdie Lou Overton; his wife, Doris Overton; his stepbrother Truett Roberts; and his son-in-law Joe Garcia.
Survivors include his daughter Louanne Garcia, of Alamogordo; a grandson, Jeremy Garcia, and his wife, Dacia, all of Alamogordo; a granddaughter, Larissa Willsey, and her husband, Damon, of Rio Rancho; great-granddaughter Abrianna Garcia, of Alamogordo; and great-grandson, Coltrane Willsey, of Rio Rancho.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff May officiating.
Inurnment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Overton family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
