Sallie Mae Johnson Obituary

Sallie Mae Johnson passed away at home on April 28, 2016. She was a gift from God, given to Ed and Gussie Ferguson on Sept. 8, 1927.

She is a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was also an eastern Star at Mt. Olive Grand Chapter of Texas. She was a very lovely, caring person, completely devoted to God, family and friends. Sallie was first lady in the Dallas, Texas church and was very active. She studied nursing and was a caregiver; she worked at Owens Sausage, and UTI. Her hobbies were fishing, sewing, quilting, gardening and crafts. She loved to make hats and flowers.

Sallie is preceded in death by her parents Ed & Gussie Ferguson; son Danny (Ted) Moten; sister Leora Harrington; brother William Ferguson; four grandsons Donald Ray Rollerson, Keith Rollerson, Danny Charles Moore, Miran Moten, and; husband Len Moten and later in life Reverend Walter Johnson of Dallas, Texas.

Sallie leaves to cherish her memories son, Joe Moten (Alberta) of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Gussie L. Moten Rollerson of Alamogordo; sister, Clara Mae Flemmings of Denison, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Moten, Rollerson, Ferguson, Hodge, Johnson, McDonald, Eaden, Williams, Flemmings, Copeland, Rue, Banks, Klump, Walker, Smith, Dusharm, Kizer, Sherfield and King.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service for Sallie Johnson will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016, at Corinth Baptist Church - Alamogordo with Pastor James Forney officiating.

The Johnson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
