1936 - 2015 Obituary Condolences

Born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska as the only child of John & Violet Ruckman. Stan lived in Nebraska, New Mexico, and Idaho, as he was growing up.

He received his Bachelor of Education from the University of Oregon and his Master of Arts from the University of Denver.
Stan spent his career surrounded by his love of books as a librarian. Prior to retiring, he was the Director of Library Services at New Mexico State University-Alamogordo.

Stan, along with his wife Carol, a native of Alamogordo, lived in Alamogordo from 1986 - 1998, before returning to Oregon for the remainder of their retirement. They were members of Grace United Methodist Church. Stan was also active with Toastmasters and Rotary, while residing in Alamogordo.

Stan loved gourmet food, wine, puns, a good murder mystery book, and began dabbling in acrylic painting in the last couple years.

Carol, Stan's beloved wife of 36 years, preceded him in death three months prior.

Survivors include two sons, Neal (Cheryle) and Tom (Laura), daughter Deborah, two step-sons, Steve (Lynn), Kenneth (Marlo), three step-daughters, Patricia, Deborah (Michael), and Laura (Mark), and 11 grandchildren.

Stan will be joining Carol for eternity at Monte Vista Cemetery on Monday Oct. 12 at 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oregon Food Bank or the Oregon Humane Society.
