Steve Montoya was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Santa Fe to Juan and Elizabeth Montoya and walked into eternity to be with Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.
Steve graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1967, where he was very active in all sports. He was a machinist by trade.
Steve loved his nieces and nephews, and especially adored his great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his brother James H. Montoya, his wife, Linda, and their son Alex Montoya and wife, Kara, and their son, Nathaniel all of Las Cruces; their daughter Brenda Billray and husband, Don, of Seattle; sister Veronica Kiscadon, her husband, Rick, and their children Adam and Solana Kiscadon, of Houston, and their older sister Ardena Kiscadon and her children Amara and Anna Padar and Hailey, Hunter and Aaryn Ford, of Alamogordo.
Steve attended Calvary Chapel Alamogordo and had grown more active in the church over the years. He enjoyed the Saturday morning men's prayer meetings. Coffee and breakfast was his favorite pasttime with his sister and her grandchildren. They adored their great uncle Steve and he will forever be in their little hearts.
Many thanks and love to Uncle Dave and Aunt Stella, of Knoxville, Md., for their love and support. You have been monumental in all their prayers, organizational skills and helping us just keep it together. He had many cousins, uncles, aunts and dear friends that will miss him.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Calvary Chapel Alamogordo, 1112 Cuba Ave., with Pastor Rick Kiscaden officiating.
Friends are invited to a potluck after the services.
