Thomas Leon Peek Obituary
MCPO Thomas Leon Peek, better known as Tom, of Alamogordo, passed away on January 26, 2018. He was born on September 3, 1941 in Goree, Knox County, Texas to Virgil and Bessie Peek, a truck driver and store clerk. He attended the same small school in Goree his entire academic life and lived there until he joined the Navy in February 1960. While stationed in San Francisco, CA he met and married his California sweetheart on March 16, 1962 in Oakland, CA. He was in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 1960 to Aug. 1979. He was stationed in Alameda, CA; Great Lakes, IL.; San Diego, CA; Key West, FL; and Ottawa, Canada. They moved to the Cloudcroft, NM area when he retired from the Navy, where he had careers as a truck driver, handyman, and car salesman.

Tom and Lynne have four children, three girls and a boy; Laura Ann Peek of Las Cruces, Susan and Michael Schexnayder of Denver, CO, Michelle and Dusty Collins of Alamogordo, NM, and Steven Peek of La Luz. Tom and Lynne have two grandchildren, Dustin Schexnayder and Casen Collins. He loved his family, his animals, and all his numerous vehicles. He will be missed by those who knew him well. His parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Wayne preceded him. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran serving four tours in Vietnam from 1968 to 1973. He was an honor graduate from all Administrative, Personnel, and Legal schools while in the Navy.

The funeral service for Thomas Peek will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 5, 2018 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bruce Freeman officiating.

Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Steven Peek, Michael Schexnayder, Dusty Collins, Dustin Schexnayder, Mike Cairus, Joe Ruiz, and Erich Wuersching.

The Peek family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
