Treva O. Brown Obituary
Treva O. Brown, 84, of Alamogordo, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009. She passed at 3:15 a.m. at the Aristocrat Assisting Living Facility in Alamogordo. She was born on May 21, 1924, in Coryell County, Texas, to Arthur and Laura (Marshall) Bay.
She was the third child of six brothers and sisters. They were a pioneer farming family until World War II when Fort Hood engulfed the family farm. She attended elementary and high school in Killeen, Texas, graduating in 1943. Shortly afterward she married Devaney T. Brown. She spent most of her life as a military wife, living in several places across the country and Europe. She lived many years in El Paso when her husband was stationed at Fort Bliss.
Treva was preceded in death by her husband, Devaney T. Brown, in 1970. After his death, she returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts in education from Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, Texas. She taught 10 years in the Belton, Texas, school district. After her retirement she moved to Alamogordo to be nearer to her children. She was an active member of Grace Methodist Church here.
She is survived by her daughter Mona Baker and her husband, Jim, of La Luz; her son Todd Brown and his wife, Paula, of Cloudcroft; grandchildren Lorie Baker, Susan Lazarski and her husband, Mike, Sienna Brown and Leah Brown; and seven great-grandchildren. Treva is also survived by her brothers Cleo W. Bay and his wife, Glennys, of Killeen, Texas; Curtis Bay and his wife, Margaret, of Salado, Texas; Benny Bay and his wife, Caroline, of Belton, Texas; and her sisters Margare Burns and her husband, Buck, of Belton, and Laura Ellen Sinclaire and her husband, Bill, of Devine, Texas.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at the Hamilton-O'Dell chapel with the Rev. Mary Taken officiating.
Inurnment will take place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso.
The Brown family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
