Troy Lunceford

Obituary Condolences

Chief Petty Officer Troy W. Lunceford (retired July 2008), 40, and an Alamogordo native, passed away April 17, 2009, after a single motorcycle accident in Yuma Ariz., while on his way to a new job with Northrop Grumman training marines at the Yuma Marine Air Station.
Troy loved and served his country for 20 years with pride in the U.S. Navy. Troy was a decorated war veteran, serving in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, the Afghanistan war on terror and Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to the USS Mobile Bay, USS Abraham Lincoln, and USS Shoup.
Troy was a very kind soul. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him and truly by the entire country for which he fought so hard to defend. He was Greg's brother, but also his hero. May he walk with the angels and go with God.
Troy believed in not keeping track of all the bad things in his life, but counting all the blessing that God so graciously gives us all. He may no longer be with us physically, but through our memories and our deeds he will live forever in spirit and our hearts.
Troy is survived by his parents Cecil (Roy) and Gayle, of Alamogordo; brother Greg and his wife, Alieen, of Albuquerque; his wife Sara and her family, of California; children Dakota and Madeline, of Washington; his uncle Gary and his aunt Astrid, of Albuquerque; cousins Melanie and her husband, Chris, and their daughter Aleah, and Andra and her husband, Fadi, and their daughter, Isabelle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Christ Community Church with Pastor Timothy Brock officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. An escort to the cemetery will be provided by the Patriot Guard Riders.
A reception and celebration of Troy's life will follow the interment at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
To all who knew him, give to Operation Wounded Warrior, c/o Ed Summerall, 34 Stonewood Dr., Alamogordo, NM 88310, in Troy's name instead of sending flowers.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers that have so lightened our hearts.
The Lunceford family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
