Vernon served as the president of the Alamogordo branch of the American Diabetic Association for two years. He was a member of the Royal Order of Moose and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He will be remembered lovingly by family and friends as a military man, working man and family man. He loved music, dancing, cooking and being surrounded by family.
