Victor Manuel Macias, 79, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Monday, May 11, 2009, in Alamogordo.
Macias was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, to Trinidad and Guadalupe (Alonzo) Macias. He moved to Alamogordo in 1961 and was employed at the Red Rooster Bowling Lanes, Dill's Prime Meats, Furr's Grocery and White Sands Forest Products, from which he retired. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Macias was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. He spent his life with the Lord. He helped his church and many people over the years. He loved the Lord and will now be with him in heaven. In his younger years he loved to hunt, bowl and he always loved his casino.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Maria Lydia Macias, of the family home; three sons, Victor Macias Jr. and his wife, Margie, José Luis Macias and his companion, Diane Perez, and Javier Macias and his wife, Anna, all of Alamogordo; two daughters, Maria Martin and her husband, Charles Wade, and Lydia Navarrete and her husband, Mario, all of Alamogordo; 10 grandchildren, Lauren and Danielle Macias, of Lubbock, Texas, Joey Macias and his companion, Alethea Macias, of Las Cruces, Ana Macias and her companion, Leonard Suazo, of Taos, Manuel Macias, of Alamogordo, Isaac and Jacob Macias, of Alamogordo, Sara Padilla and her husband, Andrew, of Alamogordo, Nina Navarrete, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michael Stanley and his companion, Stevye Lee, of Alamogordo; six great-grandchildren, Isabel, Jian, Shasha, Andrew, Angelica and Cody Joe; three brothers, Antonio Tiscarreño and his wife, Delia, of El Paso, Arturo Macias and his wife, Dolores, of Santa Ana, Calif., and José Macias, of Juarez, Mexico; two sisters, Isella Esparza and her husband, Raul, of Santa Fe, and Jesusita Macias, of Juarez; and a sister-in-law, Isella Macias, of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sergio Macias; and a nephew, Sergio Esparza.
A vigil service will be conducted Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the rosary to be recited by Linda Villaviscencio.
Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10 a.m. with Father Bruce Hausfeld, O.F.M., as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Macias, Javier Macias, Victor Macias Jr., Mario Navarrete, Charles Wade Martin and Michael Stanley.
