Walter Edward Boyle Obituary
Master sergeant, U.S. Air Force, retired
Walter E. Boyle, 74, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in Alamogordo (Boles Acres). He was born Oct. 17, 1936, in Bolivar, Pa., to Walter and Elsie (McCullum) Boyle.
Walter was a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring in 1976. He spent 22 years with the Department of Public Safety and also served as an Otero County commissioner. Walt's greatest hobby was restoring old cars.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Yvonne Boyle; son Steve Boyle and wife, Holly, of Alamogordo; Sue Scott and husband, Terry, of Tucson, Ariz.; and grandchildren Hannah Scott, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Samantha Scott, of Tucson, and Scott and Brian Boyle, of Coppell, Texas.
Walt is also survived by Geraldine Hollobaugh and husband, Gary, of Blairsville, Pa., and Dwenlean (Luker) Voytas, of Steward, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services for Walter Edward Boyle will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Monte Vista Cemetery with the Rev. Mary Taken officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity or hospice.
The Boyle family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
