Retired mechanic and welder
Walter O. Sullivent, 88, a longtime resident of Alamogordo and Tularosa, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Alamogordo.
Mr. Sullivent was born May 30, 1919, in Abilene, Texas, to Levi and Effie (Burget) Sullivent. He served in World War II in the Army. He had been a welder on the Holloman Test Track, and spent many years as a brake and alignment mechanic at Alamo Tire. He was a member of Tularosa Lodge No. 49, A.F. and A.M. and was a former district deputy grand master.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Olive Jane Sullivent, of the family home; a daughter, Jeannette Seddon and her husband Thomas, of Salt Lake City; two grandchildren, Matthew Seddon and his wife Heather Stettler, of Salt Lake City, and James Seddon and his wife Andrea, of San Diego; and two great-grandchildren, Sadie Seddon-Stettle, of Salt Lake City, and Trevor Jack Seddon, of San Diego.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernest and Clyde Sullivent; and a sister, Minnie Lee Sullivent.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery in Tularosa with Tularosa Lodge No. 49, A.F. and A.M. officiating.
Friends may call Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
