Obituary Condolences

Warren V. Vilott passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at his home north of Alamogordo surrounded by his family.
Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Oklahoma City to Trevor Vilott and Rebecca Nelson, of Oklahoma City. He retired from the Air Force after 28 years of active duty around the world, starting before World War II in the Army Air Corps. He worked as an aerial reconnaissance photographer during and after World War II. He was involved in the very beginnings of the space age of weightlessness with photographing the effects of various experiments while in the belly of specially flying aircraft.
Upon retirement from the Air Force, he went to work for the U.S. Post Office in Alamogordo. He made many friends there and many remember him from that position.
He was a past master of the Sacramento Lodge No. 24 in Alamogordo, and belonged to the Masonic Lodge for all of his adult life. He also worked with young men through the DeMolay group helping to develop a stronger youth.
Mr. Vilott was an avid bowler and played in many state leagues over his years, where he and his wife, Laura, were members of many leagues.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, in 2004.
He is survived by his daughter Vickie Rought and husband, Mike, of Alamogordo; two grandchildren, Ken Rought and wife, Cherrie, of Peoria, Ariz.; grandchild Cherrell; daughter Katy Jarman and husband, Mike, of Ashville, Ala.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Clark and husband, Jason, of Gardendale, Ala., and Nathan Jarman and wife, Lacey, of Orlando, Fla.; one son, Gary Vilott and wife, Helen, of Mary Esther, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Justin, of Gardendale.
A public memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Moon officiating.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Alamogordo Home Care/Hospice.
The Vilott family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
