Wendell R. Virden Obituary
Wendell R. Virden, 54, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born Feb. 15, 1957, in El Paso.
Wendell was a member of DeMolay during his teenage years. He served in the United States Navy where he met and married Sandy Gates on April 14, 1979, in Long Beach, Calif. They moved back to the area where he was an electronics technician for NewTec. He was installed on Dec. 13, 2003, as worshipful master of Tularosa Lodge No. 49, AF&AM.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Virden, of the family home; parents Joan (Harcrow) and Marlin Virden; son Tim Gates; daughter Marlina Virden; brothers Eugene Virden and wife, Ellen, Buddy Virden and wife, Nancy, and Terry Skaggs and wife, Margaret; sister Judy Virden-Moyers; grandmother Margaret Hagee; aunts Pam Breidhaupt and husband, Charlie, Mary Lou Beaty, Bobbie Virden and Shirley Ison; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ben and Mary Virden and his grandfather J.D. Harcrow.
Graveside services for Wendell R. Virden will be Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Tularosa with the Tularosa Lodge No. 49, AF&AM officiating. A reception will follow at the Tularosa Masonic Lodge.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to his cousin Hazel Virden.
The Virden family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
