Obituary Condolences

Loving father and Papa
William Steven Crose, better known to friends and family as Steve, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009, at the age of 65.
He was born in Lafayette, Ind., on Aug. 7, 1943. Shortly after graduating high school Steve joined the military in which he served for 26 years. He retired in the fall of 1988 in Alamogordo, where he resided until 2003 when he moved to Las Cruces to be closer to his kids and grandkids.
Steve was an avid sportsman and could be found on the basketball courts, playing a round of golf or on the pitcher's mound for his son-in-law's softball teams. He loved to be in the kitchen cooking and especially loved a good barbecue. Steve was a very caring and nurturing father and loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his children Greg Pace and Joleen Gower and Susan and Jaime Stearman, all of Mesa, Ariz., Sonia Crose and Damon Dwiggins and Tara and Rick Pacini, all of Las Cruces, and Anthea and Brandon Cotton, of Costa Mesa, Calif.; grandchildren Ryan Crose, McKayla Cotton, Kai Dwiggins, Aiden Pacini, Kianna Dwiggins and Jaxson Cotton; and brothers Mick Crose and Don "Beaver" Crose, of Lafayette.
He is preceded in death by his sister Marianne South, of Lafayette.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009, at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Chuck Moon officiating. A private, family inurnment will be held at a later date.
There will be a reception at the fellowship hall of Christ Community Church immediately after the service.
The Crose family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 First St., Alamogordo, NM 88310.
