William Uphouse Obituary

William (Bill) Uphouse passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014. He was born Oct. 9, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo.

Bill made Alamogordo his home in 1972. He became the sole owner of Dills Prime Meats, Inc., and after retirement, he owned and operated Flight Deck Hobbies.
Bill is a World War II veteran, having served as a Navy Submariner Petty Officer. He is a college graduate with a dual teaching degree awarded from Southwest Missouri State College.
Bill taught High School for nine years, during which time he became a physical education instructor, baseball coach, and rifle team coach. He was also an industrial education and electricity teacher. The experience he obtained during that time led him to become the Supervisor Director for Manpower Development Program in St. Louis and later the State Vocational Supervisor for the State of Illinois.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William O. Uphouse; his mother, Orell Dill; his step-father, Walter Dill and his two sons, Rene Uphouse and Darren Helmick.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters, Rebecca Ralston (Rob) and Lissa McGuff; two sisters; and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Bill is pending and will be announced at a later date.
