William W. Reed Obituary
William W. "Billy" Reed Jr. went to be with his Lord and savior Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011.
Billy was born Nov. 3, 1952, in El Paso and was a resident of Alamogordo for more than 40 years. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1970 and continued his education at New Mexico State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and graduated in 1974. After graduation, Billy went to work for the family business, W.W. Reed Co., and continued to run the business until the time of his passing. In 1976, Billy married the love of his life, Vicki J. Humble. Billy and Vicki were blessed with two beautiful children, Jeffrey and Heather Reed.
Billy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vicki J. Reed; his son Jeffrey Reed (Melissa); his daughter Heather Reed; his grandchildren Lauren, Megan and Jacob; his mother-in-law Shirley A. McGowen; his sister-in-law Denise Humble, his brothers-in-law Brad Humble (Gail), Mike Humble (Cathy) and Greg Humble; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of a dear family friends.
He was preceded in death by his father William W. Reed Sr. and his mother Pauline Reed.
Billy was a simple man who loved the simple things in life. He loved his family and the laughter that came with every family gathering. Billy also loved (and hated) hitting the "little white ball" and watching the Dallas Cowboys. Billy was a man of integrity with a great capacity for love. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
His affiliations include being a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 49 since 1975; director of Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association; co-chairman and secretary for the Joint Apprentice Training Committee; member of the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce; and former president of the 's Alamogordo chapter.
There will be a public viewing Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home, 1334 N. Scenic Drive, Alamogordo, from 5-7 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Grace United Methodist, 1206 Greenwood Lane in Alamogordo.
Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Larrabee, Siaosi Akauola, Robert Braziel, Luis Cervantes, Kurt Emblem, Rickie George, Scott Miller, Mike Pickering and Mike Stanley.
