Willie Gower

1935 - 2011 Obituary Condolences
Willie passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, with her family by her side, from complication related to cancer. She handled her illness as she lived her life, with strength, courage, dignity, optimism and humor.
Willie was born in Westville, Okla., on June 2, 1935, to Buster and Kate Morris. She had two sisters, Pat Gentry and Shirley Hall, all preceding her in death. In high school she was active in basketball, cheerleading and was homecoming queen. She attended nursing school in Fort Smith, Ark., and worked as a registered nurse for 13 years.
Willie moved from Oklahoma to New Mexico in 1984 and owned GiGi's Pizza. She worked there daily for 27 years. Willie enjoyed people and said work was her social life. She treated her customers like family and never met a stranger. She enjoyed playing her banjo and always enjoyed a good joke, and most of all a good laugh. She will be missed by all, but the love she shared will remain in our hearts forever.
Willie is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ted; her son Tom Gower and his wife, Jo Ann; daughter Theresa Cress and granddaughter Tricia; son Todd Gower and his wife, Michelle, and grandchildren Jacob, John and Megan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Raydean Norris, and many other good friends in Westville.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Willie's life at 10 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home chapel.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Willie's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
The family has trusted Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to arrange the services. To sign the online register book, please visit www.hamiltonodell.com.
