Wilma Jean Holsey Obituary

Wilma Jean Holsey, 82, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, in Alamogordo, after recent health problems.

Wilma was born in January of 1932 in Washita, Okla., to Ernest and Gladys (Jones) Rogers. She married her husband Bill in 1950 in Oklahoma City, Okla., and they moved to Alamogordo in 1956, where they raised their four children and were members of the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ.
Wilma worked at Holloman for many years as a secretary. However. she was an entrepreneur at heart and became a successful businesswoman as the original owner of the Mail Shoppe and also as a real estate investor. She was known to frequent open houses and looked for that bargain real estate investment even to the end.
Wilma believed in her family and loved them all so very much, and she was dearly loved by them. She will be remembered as a woman of faith, kindness and generosity.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She is survived by her four children, Randy Holsey of Alamogordo; Steve Holsey of Carrollton, Texas; Linda Schauer of High Rolls and Jennifer Torres of Peralta. She was also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica Pope, Thomas Schauer, Rachel Crain, Caleb Holsey, Sarah Schauer and Seth Holsey; five great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Abby and Liam Pope, and Althaea and Samuel Schauer, and her beloved siblings in Oklahoma whom she was close to all her life, June Jackson, Norma Mellencamp, Roberta Eskew, Donna Johnson, John Rogers and Diane Tallent.

A memorial service will be held at Cuba Avenue Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, with a reception immediately following the service.

A second memorial service will be held a week later in Oklahoma, along the banks of the Washita River.
Honorary pallbearers are John Rogers, Tony Schauer, Robert Torres, John Bogoslofski and Roy Finley.

If desired, memorial gifts may be made to Cuba Avenue Church of Christ.
