Obituary Condolences

Wilma L. Nielsen, an Alamogordo resident, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of Joseph and Viola Smirl. She married Harold Nielsen on Dec. 18, 1945. She was a homemaker and Red Cross volunteer. She also volunteered with Birthright. She believed in protecting the rights of the unborn.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Nielsen, and her husband, James Gore, of Rio Rancho; one grandson, Spc. Robert Bartholomew, of Killeen, Texas; one sister, Virginia Smirl, of Irving, Texas; and one brother, George Smirl, and his wife, Kathleen, of Topeka, Kan. The family would also like to thank Brenda, Lucy and Kim for being with and taking such good care of Wilma.
A funeral Mass with be celebrated at 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at the Holloman Air Force Base chapel with Chaplain Matthew Glaros. Those attending, if not military members, are asked to call Alamogordo Funeral Home at 434-5253.
Friends may call at the Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 First St., on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Robert Bartholomew, James Gore, David Frith and David Chelgren.
The family suggests that those friends who wish may make a memorial contribution to the , P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284-1125.
The Nielson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
