Loving Mother and Grandmother
Wilma Smith, 64, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008. She was born to Pearl and Kate Wade in El Paso, Texas. She was a resident of Socorro for 40 years, where she was a homemaker and caregiver to many youth of Socorro. Wilma was dedicated to her family and friends. She enjoyed doing crafts and all activities with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Smith, parents Pearl and Kate Wade, and her brother Rex Wade. She is survived by her children; three daughters, Tina Avalos of Alamogordo, Raylene Howell of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Paula Mauldin of Las Cruces; son Delbert Smith of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren, Julia and Jolene Avalos, Dustin and Brittany Lester, Shawn and Tanisha Mauldin Zimmerly, Alexandria, Miranda and Jordan Smith; two great grandsons Dylan Avalos and Kindrick Calhoun and many cousins and a lot of friends. She will always be loved and never forgotten.
Palbearers are Shawn Mauldin, Dustin Lester, Wesley Mauldin, Gilbert Avalos, David Avalos, Kenny Lester, Shane Paz and Manuel Peralta.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Soccorro Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, graveside service will be held at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo at 2 p.m.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, in Socorro.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the Wilma Smith Funeral Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, 501 North California Socorro, NM 87801.
