Zane D. Bourboun Obituary

Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Zane Dale Bourboun, "Opa", 89, of Alamogordo, N.M., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

Dale was born in Abilene, Texas, on June 23, 1926, to Hugo and Ernestine Bourboun. He grew up ranching in Pecos, Texas, before joining the United States Army. During World War II, he was awarded The Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in a Combat Zone. Dale later joined the United States Air Force. While stationed at Furstenfelbruck Air Force Base in Germany during the early 1950s, Dale met the love of his life, Irmgard. He served in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement. After retirement, he served as an Otero County Sheriff's Deputy.

Dale, or just Opa, as he was known to many, was a kind soul, with a heart of gold. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He never met a stranger, and would give those he loved the shirt off his back, if he knew they needed it.

Dale is survived by his son, Douglas Bourboun (Karen), and his daughter, Leslie Casiano, both of Alamogordo, N.M.; his eight grandchildren, Tara Glad (Jay, Lauren and Morgan) of Hastings, Minnesota; Emily Conner (John Lee, Avery and Evan) of Las Cruces, N.M.; Jackie Gardner (Jim, Lily and Dillon) of Alamogordo, N.M.; Jacob Bourboun (Ashley Clow) of Grand Forks, N.D.; Matthew Casiano (Kim), of Denver, Colo.; Juliett Moore (Abe, Payton and Zander) of Alamogordo, N.M.; Cyndi Stagner (Brian, Keegen and Kolton) of Alamogordo, N.M., and Tom Eldred (Lacy, Preston and Aniston) of Alamogordo, N.M.; one sister, Donna Barrett, of Fla.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Irmgard M. Bourboun, his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Services will be Friday, June 10, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Ft Bliss National Cemetery.

The Bourboun family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
