Kenneth Peck Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 20 to Oct. 21, 2016.

Our dad, our hero, Kenneth Peck, died at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, from cancer.
Kenneth Earl Peck was born Oct. 18, 1926 to Moroni and Laura Ann Peck. He was born in Garland, Utah. He is the youngest of nine children.
He attended schools in Utah and Idaho. He graduated from high school in Shelley. He enjoyed playing his trumpet at both Shelley High School and Brigham Young University. During his senior year, he was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Philippines. He marched in the Armistice Day Parade in San Francisco.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian Mission and loved the people there.
He loved working in his garden, writing poems, and being with family. He had a way of making each grandchild feel special. His grandchildren will remember him for the wisdom, testimony and encouragement he gave them in personal letters he sent each of them. He always had a supply of ice cream to share.
He attended BYU in Provo, Utah and graduated with his Bachelors degree. He attended Utah State and obtained his Masters Degree in Education. He taught school for 17 years and was also a mail carrier for 21 years.
He served in many leadership positions in the church.
He married Arthella June Gotch in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 9, 1950. They were married for six years and she died soon after having a baby boy. The baby boy, Kenneth Earl, died also. He married Evelyn Sabin on April 19, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They were married for 57 years.
He has three living children, Donna (Ron) Wilding of Rigby, Idaho, Debra (Dan) James of Salt Lake City, Utah and Alan (Susan) Peck, Pocatello. He has 15 grandchildren; and 40 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Arthella and Evelyn; son, Kenneth Earl.
Eight Brothers & Sisters; Ray, Lee, Howard, Sherman, Edith, Blanche, Elva, and June.
He will be dearly missed and has left us a wonderful legacy of faith and love.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Rose LDS Church with Bishop Bob Despain conducting.
The family will meet with friends and relatives on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. Blackfoot and again on Saturday at the church for an hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Shelley, Idaho, Hillcrest Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the family at [email protected]

My Grandpa Peck was how I knew grandpa. He wasnt a biological grandparent but he and grandma always made me feel like their own. I have always appreciated how they kept us a part of their lives throughout the years. They surprised me 20 years ago to show up at my wedding reception here in NM. They were both loved and I was blessed to have known them. All my love to my family.

Donna, Debra, Alan,

We moved in by your parents in 1988 and they were always the best neighbors. To us they were pure examples of what it means to be Christlike. I have so many fond memories of your parents. Your mom's homemade donuts were just like my grandma and your dad's love of the outside reminded me of my grandfather. I will never forget him pulling the hand mower with the riding mower because the riding mower's blade was broke or him getting down on the ground to watch Dan fix his truck and giving him a little advice here and there. I was just home for church Sunday and noticed him missing from church. When I was told why my heart was broken. I am just glad he is with his sweet Evelyn. My heart truly mourns with his passing and my thoughts and prayers are your family at this time. This earthly world has lost a great man and heaven gained an angel.
We lived in the house between your parents and Hulse's. I have since moved away and have missed them every day. I have so many many great memories that I will always hold dear.

Ken was such a wonderful neighbor and friend. He was always so friendly and helpful. I remember after my husband passed away and I had to do the flood irrigating in my yard. Ken wanted to do it for me. One time I slipped and fell in the ditch and he was right there to "rescue" me. He was 87 years old, and said "see you should let me do that for you!"
My condolences to the family! He will be truly missed. I'm sure he is so happy to be with both of his wives now. It brings great peace to know that we'll see our loved ones again.
