Audrey "Rusty" Denning Obituary
Audrey "Rusty" Denning, 82, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, on her birthday at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Audrey "Rusty" Denning was born Audrey Marie Johnsen on March 2, 1935 in Askov, Minn. She was the only daughter with two older brothers and one younger. Her Danish upbringing would prepare her for the wild journey that her life would come to be.
She graduated high school in Askov and moved to Salt Lake City Utah to work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the offices. In her singles ward in Salt Lake City, she was noticed by a handsome rogue by the name of Marvin Denning. They dated and were married in 1956. 'Rusty' as she was named by Marvin, had a very special gift in making every home a haven. She moved many times in her life.
She gave birth to five children; one daughter and four boys. After many amazing places to have created new homes, they settled in Blackfoot in 1974. A wonderful cook and busy homemaker, she enriched lives wherever she went.
She served in many different callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved them all. Her love of family and her tireless gift of giving made her many wonderful friends where ever they lived. She was not only was the heart of our home, but also the glue that has kept us all together through thick and thin.
Becoming Grandma was a special joy to Rusty. She adored her grandchildren and they her. After a double tragedy when their youngest son, Chad, and his wife Tara were taken in a traffic accident, Marv and Rusty embraced the role of parents to their two grandsons, Colton and Trevor. It was a great joy for both of them to raise these gentle 6' 6" giants to adulthood. And a great view from her tiny 5' foot frame to talk up to them.
She was phenomenal wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her brother, Darrell Johnsen; daughter, Julie; sons, Kevin (Carrie) and Scott (Lisa); and grandsons, Colton and Trevor. As well as their other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Marvin; sons, David and Chad and his wife Tara, and her son in law Marlow Herbst (Julie).
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at the Blackfoot Fourth Ward, with Bishop Leslie Cook conducting. Family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
