Barbara Robertson Obituary
Barbara Lee Pope Robertson, 83, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away March 4, 2018 at her home in Rexburg, Idaho.
She was born on July 8, 1934 in Emmett, Idaho to Ersal and Melba (Borup) Pope.
Her early life was spent in Emmett where she worked in local orchards, picking cherries, swam in canals, and enjoyed family fishing trips and cooking out of doors.
She graduated from Emmet High School where she was active in the school orchestra. She played violin in the Boise Symphony for three years during her high school years. She attended Brigham Young University, then completed nurses training at St. Luke's in Boise, Idaho. During this training she spend some time in Blackfoot, Idaho where she met her husband, LaMar Robertson. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 19, 1956.
Barbara was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life was full of service, unpaid service using her nursing skills, scouting, other church callings. She loved to go camping with her family, and particularly enjoyed trips to Yellowstone and excursions looking for wildlife.
Blackfoot had been her home for over sixty years. Following her husband's death, she moved to Rexburg to live with a daughter. She missed her home and friends but made many new friends while living in Rexburg.
She is survived by her children, sons, Grand Leland (Valerie) Robertson of Brigham City, UT, Layne LaMar (Lennea) Robertson of Pocatello, ID, daughters, Marla Lee (Victor) Villavicencio of Carey, ID, Lynette Beth Robertson of Rexburg, ID, Linda Sue (Craig) Patterson of Carey, ID and Rhonda Ann (Scott ) Kindred of Logan, UT. She is also survived by Bernadine (Steve) Whitehair Bennitt of Flagstaff, AZ who was raised as a daughter; brothers, Clayne (Carolyn), Rulon (Sue), Kenneth (Julie), and Gordon (Carol) Pope; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaMar, an infant son, Myles Kay, her parents, and brother, Dal.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Rexburg Stake Center, 845 West 7th South in Rexburg.
Family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
