Betty Ann Kee Honena Obituary
Betty Ann Kee Honena, 66, was born on April 10, 1951 in Fort Defiance, Arizona to mother, Fannie, and father, Tom Kee. She departed this life due to a short illness on December 17, 2017 at the Mayo Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Betty attended schools in Pine Springs, Arizona before graduating from Stewart Indian school in 1970. In 1974, she married Wesley Honena Sr. in Stewart, Nevada. In 1975, Betty and Wesley moved to Gibson, Idaho where they raised four children: Shelly, Joey, Lisa, Wesley "Junior" and later legally adopted her niece Shylah Rae Kee. They later divorced, but Betty remained close with their father's family.
Betty and her companion of 18 years, "Butch" Ramos, established a home in Pocatello, Idaho and after their retirement moved to Pine Springs, Arizona; her family's home. Butch continuously remained by her side.
Betty began her government employment in Carson City, Nevada. After moving to Fort Hall, Idaho, Betty was a homemaker early on so she was able to raise her kids and became a foster parent to a number of other kids in the Fort Hall area. She later began to work at the Fort Hall Irrigation BIA, then continued working many years at the Fort Hall Indian Health Service where she eventually retired.
Betty is survived by her companion, Ramiro Ramos; five sisters, Barbara, Marita, Maryann, Nancy, and Bertie; five children, Shelly Honena, Elton "Joey" Honena, Lisa Lynn Honena, Wesley Honena Jr., and Shylah R. Kee Honena; nephew, Bert Bia; grandchildren, Cerissa Ann Honena, Akaila Dawntai Martin, Steven Broncho, Leo "Bert" Honena, Erin M. Honena, Simon L. Broncho, Tia A. Honena, and K'Chele Johnson, Adrien Honena; and one great-grandchild, Leorah Honena.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Fannie F. Kee; father, Tom Kee, and brother, Henry Kee.
Betty will arrive for viewing starting at 10 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at Timbee Hall in Fort Hall, Idaho. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church 584 West Sexton Blackfoot, ID. Burial services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Gibson Cemetery. Dinner and give away will be after the burial at Timbee Hall.
