Betty Ann Stewart Hanson Obituary
Betty Ann Stewart Hanson, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 2, 2016. Those that knew Betty knew her beautiful warm personality and her willingness to be of service.
Betty was born January 16, 1933, in La Grande, Oregon, to Chauncy LeRoy Stewart and Amy Francis Miller Stewart. She grew up in Oregon and graduated from Burns Union High School. She was active in band as first chair saxophone, choir, and was 4-H Grand Champion. She started working after school at age 15 and never stopped.
On August 30, 1951, she married Wilton Duane "Curly" Hanson in Winnemucca, Nevada. To this union were born five children: Robert, Patricia, Kathleen, William "Billy" and Daniel. Betty and Curly moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho and provided their growing family opportunities for a wonderful quality of life. Betty worked as a Bank Teller for U.S. National Bank. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings.
Mom especially loved spending time with her family. She lived her life as an example of charity to her children, family and friends and strived to do all things from a place of love, kindness and understanding. In her nurturing way, Mom enjoyed growing flowers especially African Violets and had quite a green thumb. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant brother, a son, William David "Billy" Hanson, a grandson, Clint Mecham, and three great grandsons, James Mecham, Jayden Mecham, and Macsen Schwartz.
Betty is survived by son, Robert (Shannon) Hanson; daughter, Patricia (George) Burt; daughter, Kathleen (Dayle) Mecham; son, Daniel Hanson; brothers, Everett Stewart and Daryel (Pat) Stewart; and sisters, Evadine (Dewey) Tucker and Linda (Buck) Withers.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren: Marshall (Denia), Tyler, Mike (Kim), Amber, Kaleb, Keith (Natalie), Katie (Jared), Collette (Ryan), Brad (Emily), Brian, Alycia, and Annaleise; and 12 great grandchildren: Noah, Avery, Olivia, Julia, MiKayla, Hayden, Emmalise, Emilia, Graham, Saniya, Molly, and Rohan with two more on the way. Every one of these little ones were loved, cherished, and could always count on a goody bag before they left. To them their Grandma was always optimistic, kind, and smiley - always ready to give a hug. Mom, the tenderness you shared with us will never fade.
Private graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
