Betty Jane (Clark) Rowe Obituary
Betty Jane (Clark) Rowe died peacefully at her home in Natchez, MS. from cancer at 11:45 a.m., March 8, 2017. She was 67-years old.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1949 in Kuna, Idaho where her parents William H. (Bill) and Katherine (Hill) Clark owned a cafe and motel. They later owned a farm in Rockford, Idaho. Following a fire at the farm, her father moved them to Blackfoot where Mrs. Clark became an RN and Bill went to school to get his Masters degree in education.
He taught fifth grade in Blackfoot and Fort Hall and later was the principal at Wapello until his retirement.
Betty graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart, Steven Rowe, also of Blackfoot, in August 1968. She attended one year of college at BYU, Ricks College while her husband was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War.
Betty was an accomplished operatic soprano in high school, studying under LonaMae Sorenson of Blackfoot. She performed "Un Bel Di" at BYU by invitation during her senior year at Blackfoot High.
During her married life, she achieved her accomplishments by going to the library and checking our books appropriate to her choice of study.
First as a bookkeeper in Gardenville, NV. She later achieved all seven required stock brokerage licenses by studying three foot deep piles of manuals, passing all seven licensing tests on the first attempt.
She was self-taught in hospital administration and financial operations, as well.
Betty's lifelong love of antique furniture and Victorian era houses was dominant throughout her married life. She and her husband refurbished and restored four Victorians and remodeled numerous other more modern homes.
Her greatest regret in life and the one item that brought her the most heart felt pain was her inability to be with her youngest daughter and three grandchildren in Idaho while they were growing up.
Betty is survived by her husband of 49 years, Steven Rowe of Natchez, Miss. Her oldest daughter, Shelly Rowe, grandson Matthew and granddaughter Elisa, all of Natchez. Her youngest daughter, Katie (Rowe) Flores, wife of Armando Flores, Katie's three daughters, Noelle (Bisharat) Burnett, Kaitlyn and Anna Bisharat, all of Blackfoot. Also two great grandchildren, also of Blackfoot. One brother, Williams H. (Bill) Clark of Salt Lake City, formerly of Blackfoot.
Betty was also blessed with six nieces and three nephews and brother-in-law Edward Boiski of Waterbury, Conn. She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. Clark and Katherine (Hill) Clark and two sisters, Carol (Clark) Bioski and Katherine Clark.
Betty will be interred in the Grove City Cemetery following a Memorial service to be held on June 26 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 2550 Rose Rd. Blackfoot, ID.
Condolences may be sent to Katie Flores, 189 E. Pacific St. Blackfoot, ID 83221.
