Bill Langley Obituary
Bill Langley, 81, of Blackfoot, Idaho  passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home, following a very courageous and valiant three year battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born Dec. 14, 1935 in Great Falls, Montana, the son of Richard Carlisle Langley and Susan Mittal. He served in the Montana Air National Guard for eight years, 186 Fighter Intercepter, Squadron Montana ANG.e
Bill's heritage is that of horses and rodeos. His dad and uncle ran a cattle and horse ranch north of the Sun River at Vaughn, Montana. Bill started breeding horses at the age of 14 when he went to work for the K Bar L, up Sun River Canyon.
While attending Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont., he continued to break horses for a number of large ranches in Montana, including the Running Y, CA Ranch, the Flying D and KYD Cattle Company. 
He was on the Montana State University Rodeo Team for three years and competed in five events, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Bull Riding, Calf Roping and Steer Wrestling. 
He was also on the MSU Livestock Judging Team. After graduating from MSU, he lived in Belgrade, Mont. and worked for the Newhall Vet Clinic at the Beaumont Race Track.
Bill married the love of his life Dojie Campbell in 1960 and moved to Blackfoot to manage a cattle operation; however, he also continued to start numerous young horses and race colts for owners and trainers throughout Eastern Idaho. 
Their daughter, Shana was born after they moved to Blackfoot. Shana being his only daughter was the center and inspiration of his life.
Bill taught the first western horsemanship program through ISU Athletic Dept. for two years. He was a charter member during the formation of the Idaho Horse Council, which was organized to provide assistance to all horse related horse activities in Idaho. 
Throughout his career he conducted a number of horsemanship clinics throughout the area and into Utah, Wyoming and Montana. For more than 25 years, Bill judged many horse events including reining, cow cutting, rodeos and open horse shows in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah.
During the 1960s, Bill and Dojie started their own quarter horse breeding program with High Chicaro. The AQHA presented Bill and Dojie a prestigious certificate for raising and breeding registered Quarter Horse for 40 continuous years.
In 1980, Bill and Dojie started their own production and consignment sale, which was a year event until 2003. Bill and his family were inducted into Southeast Idaho Horseman's Hall of Fame in 2015.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dojie Langley, and his adoring daughter, Shana Langley previously of Big Sky, Mont. and now of Blackfoot; brother, Jim Langley of Great Falls, Mont.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held early summer this year on the family ranch.
