Billie Denise Gallaher Hendricks Obituary
Billie Denise Gallaher Hendricks, 73, of Blackfoot, passed away, Friday, February 2, 2018 at her home.
She was born April 23, 1944 in St. Maries, Idaho the daughter of Russel Stanley Gallaher and Evelyn Wray.
She graduated from Blackfoot High School.
On December 2, 1960, she married Richard Allen Hendricks in Blackfoot, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1963.
Billie lived in Blackfoot from 1954-1960 then moved to Northern Idaho and then lived 30 years in Alaska.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served as the librarian for several years and pursued her life long passion of genealogy. She worked in the Alaska Temple for 3 years.
She spent a lot of time in her youth working in her father's logging business in the logging camps. She returned to Blackfoot making her permanent home in 2004. She worked with the census bureau and went to many remote areas in Alaska. She was promoted to supervisory jobs. She also worked in Barrow, AK at the Crisis Center and Orphanage.
Billie was an avid reader and scriptorian.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Hendricks of Blackfoot; mother, Evelyn; children, Denise (Rodney) Williams of Blackfoot, ID, Gina (Conrad) Bell of Independence, MO, Michele (Steve) Braden of Lake Stephens, WA, June Hendricks of Anchorage, AK; brother, Brad (Marie) Findlay of Blackfoot, ID and sister, Cherie Knudson of Hayden Lake, ID; six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Russel Stanley Gallaher and step-dad, Bill Findlay.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Blackfoot 15th Ward LDS Chapel, 520 N. Shilling Ave.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
