Blake A. Mecham Obituary
Blake A. Mecham, 66, of Pingree, Idaho passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at his home following an honorable fight with cancer.
He was born April 30, 1950 in Blackfoot, Idaho the son of Alvin John Mecham and Nina Andersen Mecham.
Blake has lived his entire life in the Pingree area. He attended schools in the Snake River District graduating from Snake River High School in 1969. He also attended Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) in Rexburg.
On June 20, 1975, he married Sherrie Syme in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Ohio. He also served as a home teacher, Sunday School Teacher and the Young Men Presidency.
Blake served as the director of Bingham County Wool Pool for many years, a 4-H leader for a sheep club and Boy Scouts.
He worked at Basic American Foods for 33 years. He also farmed with his father and brothers for many years.
Blake enjoyed camping, fishing, working with livestock, playing basketball, riding horses and supporting his children in their various activities.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie of Pingree; sons, Shad (Jessica) of Magna, Utah, Cameron (Jamie), of Idaho Falls, Barrett, of Pingree, and Braxton (Ashlyn) all of Pingree; daughter, Chandra (Hayes) Jensen of Moore, Idaho; brothers, Kurt (Evelyn) Mecham of Blackfoot, Kris (Stephanie) Mecham of Sandy, Utah, Dayle (Kathy) Mecham and Val Dee (Kellie) Mecham both of Pingree; sisters, Shirlene Atwood and Barbara Mecham both of Pingree and his grandchildren, Wade, Jocelyn, Karsten, Aspen, Candace, Jasper, Pieper, Abigale and Brielle.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin John and Nina Mecham.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the Pingree LDS Church. The family will meet with friends on Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home and again Friday at the church for an hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
