Brenda Hammond Obituary
Brenda Lee Hammond, 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Brenda was born Sept.16, 1954 in Pocatello, Idaho to Wilbur Dean and Pheobe Colleen Gregory. She was the oldest of six children, four brothers and one sister. She attended public school in Blackfoot and studied business at Ricks College.
Brenda married Jack Hammond on June 9, 1989, in Boise and they ran a successful dental laboratory together for more than 26 years. Brenda was very smart, brilliant with numbers, had excellent business savvy, and was loved by her employees and clients. She treated everyone with courtesy, love, and respect.
Brenda was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various leadership roles with the youth and women of the church. She was a gifted speaker and touched the lives of many people throughout decades of church service.
She loved reading, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and being in the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time in McCall kayaking, hiking and Razoring with family and friends. She could often be found in her kitchen baking cookies for others and always had a meal and a smile ready to take to someone in need. Brenda also loved to quilt and spent many of her last years creating beautiful quilts and baby blankets for family, friends, and charities.
Brenda was a kind, compassionate, selfless woman who was full of dignity and grace. She was a fun and loving mother, an incredible wife, and her laugh, optimism and enthusiasm for life will be missed. She passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 29, after bravely enduring a 5½-year battle with breast cancer. She fought with courage, strength and unending positivity and was a ray of hope and comfort to so many fellow cancer patients.
She leaves behind her parents Wilbur and Colleen Gregory, her spouse Jack Hammond, her four children; daughter, Alicia (Marcus) Lowry and grandchildren Ellie, Lucas, Clara, Spencer, and Owen; daughter Brittany (Brad) Steadman and grandchildren Ty, Trey, Halley, and Ashley; son Logan (Mallory) Brown and grandchildren Nixon, Layla, and Kate; son Landon Brown; stepson Scott (Tracy) Hammond and grandchildren Benjamin and Madelyn; stepdaughter Melanie (Troy) Dussart and grandchildren Kristina and Ethan; stepson Josh Hammond and grandchildren Mia and Riot; stepson Mike (Natalie) Hammond and grandchildren Jaxon, Ryker, and Krew; stepdaughter Jessica (Andrew) Bertasso and grandchildren Decker, Tueller, and Holt; and siblings Michael (Vicki) Gregory; Jonathan (Karen) Gregory; David Gregory; Paul Gregory; Lisa (Robert) Brenchley and their respective families.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 at the LDS chapel located at 8625 S. Linder Rd., Kuna. Family will greet friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
