Burke Kimber Poole Obituary
Burke Kimber Poole, 92, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Gem Village Assisted Living in Blackfoot.
He was born December 19, 1923 in Annis, Idaho the son of Rawlston Barber Poole and Alfretta Morgan Poole.
He attended grade school in Annis, Menan and Rigby. He graduated from Moreland High School in 1943 where he was the Student Body President.
Burke served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.
On October 7, 1949, he married Joan Hanson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church has been a very important part of his life and served in the Bishopric, as Elder's Quorum President, Seventies President and served on the High Council. He served a mission to Eastern States Mission and numerous stake missions.
Burke worked at Idaho Power for almost 37 years, from meter reader to store room manager.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Blackfoot; children, Randy (Trudi) Poole, Jodie (Arlin) Stimpson, R. Kimber (Kathryn) Poole, Susan (Doyle) Hawker, Kerry Poole and Kristi Peterson all of Blackfoot; sister, Leah Doering of Blackfoot; 26 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven Lewis Hancock Poole, brothers, Ferrell Poole and Bill Poole, sister Verona Caldwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Riverside LDS Chapel. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 11, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S.
