Byron Douglas Jennings Obituary
Byron Douglas Jennings, 87, of Blackfoot, passed away, Monday, March 27, 2017 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Byron was born Aug. 2, 1929 in Boise, Idaho the son of Frances Raymon Jennings and Ola Louise Rush Jennings.
He lived in Melba, Burley, Aberdeen and Blackfoot. He graduated from Melba High School.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War from Sept. 24, 1950-July 19, 1953.
On Oct. 2, 1955, he married Marieta Dennie in Nampa, Idaho.
Byron was a member of the Jason Lee Memorial Methodist Church. He was also a longtime member of Stewart Hoover Post #23 where he served as commander for several years as well as a financial secretary.
He farmed and was a state potato inspector, state highway department, 6 years at the Aberdeen bowling alley, Super Wash and a exterminator for Western Pest.
Byron enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening and leather work.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rita of Blackfoot; children, Suzan (Jeff) Pratt of Blackfoot, Lezlie Quilimaco of Blackfoot, Shonnie Jennings of Rupert, Larry Jennings of Jackson, WY, Shannon Jennings of Blackfoot, and Lisa (Mike) Crawford of Blackfoot; sister, Margaret Tucker; twenty one grandchildren, fifty eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will meet with friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
