C. Gary Bennett Obituary
C. Gary Bennett, 85, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Blackfoot, passed away Tuesday,
February 1, 2017 at Parkway Assisted Living in Idaho Falls.
He was born March 13, 1931 in Thatcher, Idaho the son of Thomas Bennett and Letha Orson Bennett.
Gary was raised in Thatcher, Riverdale, Preston, Idaho Falls. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also lived in Rigby and Blackfoot.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
On September 28, 1953, he married Patricia Johnson in Ammon, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple on October 4, 1972. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2005. On May 8, 2005, he married Shirley Cox and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gary worked as a meat cutter for Safeway in Rigby and Blackfoot and Crowley's Cold Storage in Idaho Falls. He also worked at American Potato as a security operator in Blackfoot.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Idaho Falls; children, Gary Scott (Dana Rae) Bennett of Rexburg, Roger Reed (JoAnna) Bennett of Blackfoot; Kayleen Trappett (Lance) Riggs of Layton, Utah, RaNae (Rick) Taylor of Blackfoot;  step-children, Bradly (Judy) Price of Idaho Falls, Brian (Pam) Price of Boise, Kathy (Mark) Reisenburg and Carolee (Robert) Adams of Idaho Falls and Shirley Dawn (Robert) Baren of Colorado; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, daughter, Tamara Linn Bennett, step-children, Brent and Blaine Price, brothers, Darrell, DeLynn, Delain, sister, Carman Fransen and great grandchild, Ryker Taylor.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. The family will meet with friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. that morning at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
