Carol Elaine Samuelson Turpin Obituary
Carol Elaine Samuelson Turpin passed away May 2, 2017 at Bingham Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
She was born April 18, 1927 in Rose, Idaho. She was the fifth, of six children born to Arthur Vitalis Samuelson and Nellie Mae Simpson.
Carol attended school in a two-room school house in McDonaldville. She then attended Rose Elementary, and graduated from Moreland High school.
On March 2, 1944, she married the love of her life, Rex Alvin Turpin. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served as a Primary Teacher, Second Counselor in Young Women's and Visiting Teaching Supervisor for the last 15 years. She was proud to sing in the Church Choir and once traveled to Salt Lake City to sing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. She was also a current member of the Senior Citizens Center.
Carol worked at L.E. Stevens Potato for four years before starting Westside Plumbing with her husband, Rex. The two ran the business successfully for eighteen years before retiring.
She was a gifted seamstress and loved making flower arrangements for herself and loved ones. Carol found golf late in life and enjoyed it immensely until her passing. She was an avid cheerleader at ball games and all other family events. Carol found joy in all things and everyone. She loved to serve the Lord and all those around her.
She is survived by her children Terry (Marilyn) Turpin, Pauline Giannini, Carolyn Cook, all of Blackfoot, and RexAnn (Max) Wheeler of Kimberly; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Arthur and Nellie, husband Rex, brothers Arvid, Alvin, Leonard, Merlin Samuelson, and sister Elma Mae Jensen.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at Blackfoot Second Ward LDS Chapel; 660 Teton Road, in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and family on Friday, May 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot, Idaho and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
