Chester Gene Cushman Obituary
Chester Gene Cushman, 88, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away March 11, 2015, at his home.
He was born October 1, 1926, in Springfield, Idaho, the son of Chester Guy Cushman and Emma Inskeep Cushman. He grew up in Springfield, Pingree and Blackfoot. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1944.
As a young man, he helped with the family drilling business. Later, he was employed by Morrison-Knudsen and worked in every state in the United States except three and all over the world including Algeria, Nigeria, Zaire, and Saudi Arabia. Gene was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union No. 648 in Pocatello for many years.
Gene enjoyed training bird dogs; farming; playing the guitar, fiddle, piano and accordion, all by ear.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Dockstader Cushman of Idaho Falls; daughters: Cathy (Brad) Alleman of Blackfoot, Carla (Mike) Davenport of Idaho Falls; sons: Roger (Amy) Cushman and Michael Cushman, both of Idaho Falls; Gary (Mona) Cushman of New Plymouth, Idaho; Pat (Mike) Hernandez and Rich (Jeannie) Hernandez, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, 3 grandsons: Adam Cushman, Aaron Hunt and Ryan Hunt Jardine; and a brother, Jack Cushman.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls with Bishop Dennis Wahlquist officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
