Clara Amelia Starkey Obituary
Clara Amelia Starkey, 97, our loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend departed this life on earth to be with her father in heaven on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at The Willows in Blackfoot.
Clara was born on Feb. 25, 1917 in American Falls, Idaho to Isreal and Rosina Briske Schritter. She received her education in Pleasant Valley Country School, a one-room schoolhouse for grades one through eight.  
Clara married George Miser in 1935, they later divorced. In 1949 Clara married Ole "Red" Edward Starkey. They built their home and resided in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Clara worked as a hairdresser in a shop in her home, until the age of 89. 
She was a member of The Jason Lee Memorial Methodist Church. Clara enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, canning and playing bingo and pinochle with her friends.
Clara especially enjoyed her family and her grandchildren were the love of her life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Donna (Ken) Moss of Cartagena, Columbia; son, Charles (Rita) Miser of American Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Tim, Craig, Sheryl, Dana, Paul, Jeremiah, Kenny, Shawna, Kirk, Todd, Brian, Lisa, Charlene, Mark, Hope Ann, Rita Marie; 16 great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Red; son, Roy; daughter, Shirley; six sisters; six brothers; and her parents.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to all the friends who visited her and assisted in providing care and company. A very big thank you to the nurses and staff at The Willows and Hospice who treated our mother and family with such kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Jason Lee Memorial Methodist Church, 168 S University Ave, Blackfoot, ID 83221.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at The Jason Lee Memorial Methodist Church, 168 South University Avenue in Blackfoot. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Aberdeen Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
