Claudia Marie Thompson Obituary
Claudia "Marie" Thompson, 76, of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Marie was born February 3, 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Hallace Werner and LaVerne Elkington Harker.  She was raised and attended school in Shelley, graduating from Shelley High School.  Following graduation she attended Ricks College.
On November 27, 1957 she married Charles "Chuck" Thompson in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple.  She and Chuck lived in Idaho Falls for two years when they were first married.  They later moved to Blackfoot, where they have resided since.  Chuck preceded her in death on June 10, 2012.
Marie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served faithfully  as Ward Organist and Choir Director, Visiting Teacher, in the Young Women's Organization and indexing for genealogy.
She was a member of the Idaho Historical Society. She gave generously of her time and talents.  Marie loved music and taught piano lessons to many students.  
Marie was a substitute school teacher, worked as a bookkeeper for Ellsworth Construction and most recently worked for Bingham County.  
Marie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, baking bread and reading.  First and foremost, Marie was a devoted wife and mother, she loved spending time with her family, supporting her children and grandchildren in their activities and working on genealogy.
She is survived by her children: Andrea (David) Hapeman of Richardson, Texas, Laura Marantette of Gooding, JoBeth (Greg) Morrison of Franklin, Bill (MaryAnn) Thompson of Blackfoot, Cheri (Rick) Warren of Firth, Shauna (Wyatt) Croft of American Falls, April (Tommy) Bryant of Chubbuck, John (Teresa) Thompson of Pocatello and Paula (Scott) Ames of Chubbuck, 37 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters Harriet (Mike) Madden and Jerri (Dee) Snarr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, her parents, a brother, a sister, a grandson and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Blackfoot 4th Ward LDS Chapel.  The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church.  Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
