Connie Christina Mathews Obituary
Connie Christina Mathews, 29, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Pocatello, Idaho from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Connie was born April 22, 1987 in San Jose, Calif. to Michelle Burke and Roy Mathews. She was raised in Idaho, Utah and Alaska. Connie built many lifelong friendships that she valued throughout her years.
Connie was a rock in the lives of her siblings, William Jennings of Oregon, Ashley Mathews of Blackfoot, Caroline Mathews of Bountiful, Utah. She was raised as a sister to her aunt Johna Blaylock of Blackfoot and was a big sister to her step- siblings Kaylonna, Cheylee and Jerzey Call of Utah.
Connie's greatest pride in her life was being a mom. She and Casey Cota welcomed first a daughter, Alexis, then a son, Nathaniel, into their lives. Connie later became mom to her nephew, Kash, when she adopted him. The love she gave to her children will be forever in their hearts. She took them on many adventures and shared her zest with life with all of them.
Connie lived life out loud. She loved music and spending many nights around a fire with her dad and uncles listening to "all of the good stuff."
She loved to dance and, if there was music playing, Connie would be the first to hit the floor and the last to leave. She grew up taking many adventures with her aunt, Felecia, and loved photography. She was always ready for a road trip and liked to go to Utah to see her mom and step-dad, Jeff Call.
Family was very important to Connie and she made many memories with her cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Most recently, she became a member of "Beat The Odds" Bull Riding Benefit through her fiancé, Shane Haggard of Fort Hall. She also loved to love and to give to others and many people felt her generosity throughout her life.
Connie is survived by her parents, siblings, children and fiancé.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Shorty and John, paternal grandparents, Martha and Bill, her aunts Audrey and Dixie, uncle RV and Grandma Shirley.
A service and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 11 at Pratt's Barn (649 North Highway 91, Firth, Idaho) at 4 p.m.
Following her wishes Connie will be cremated under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
