Darla Solinsky Obituary
Darla Solinsky, 81, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 21, 1935 in Groveland, Idaho to William Elmer Hansen and Cecil Hofhine Hansen.
She attended school in Groveland and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1953. Darla loved growing up on a farm.  She enjoyed riding her horse and swimming in the canals. She was always at her father's side, often riding on the backs of his work horses while he worked in the fields.
On June 4, 1956, she married Harold Solinsky in Blackfoot. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2010.
Darla served as Relief Society President, Stake Young Women's presidency, and Stake Music Director.
Darla loved music and drama. She sang in a professional music company, "The Entertainers", in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She taught music and voice lessons and was a beauty consultant for Mary Kay.  She played the role of Mother Abbess in a local Sound of Music production and was well known for her beautiful singing voice.
Darla was the wife of an Army officer. She lived in 26 different homes in 24 years before returning home to Blackfoot when Harold retired in July of 1977. That same year Darla began working for Blackfoot School District 55. She worked in the offices of Irving, Central, Shilling, and Stalker elementary schools. She retired in 1991, but never stopped sharing fond stories of the children and staff that she met throughout the years.
She is survived by her children, Robert Harold (Barbara) Solinsky of Idaho Falls, Christian Harold (Heide) Solinsky of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, her grandson whom she raised as her son, Danny (Natalie) Siler of Groveland, Idaho, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Darla is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Solinsky; her parents, Elmer and Cecil Hansen; her sister, Zeola Walker; her brother Verdell Hansen; her daughter, Shelley Sue Solinsky; and a granddaughter, Kathryn Darla Shinderling.
