David Deloy Jones Obituary
David Deloy Jones, 85, of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Dave was born November 18, 1930 at Midvale, Utah, to Arthur Jones and Edna Wood Jones. While Dave was just an infant his family moved to Idaho; he has lived his entire life in Blackfoot, attending schools here and graduating from Blackfoot High School. He was a great athlete and enjoyed playing sports while in high school.
He served in the Idaho National Guard for 17 years.
On January 26, 1954 he married, Rose Mary Schroeder at Blackfoot, Idaho. Together they had 4 daughters and a son.
Dave worked for Bingham Co-op and in 1955 he went to work at the INL Site. He started in the labor pool and retired as a Mechanical Maintenance Manager after 37 years, retiring in 1992. He also liked working his small farm, spending time walking the ditchbank to change the irrigation water.
In his younger days, Dave spent summer evenings  playing fastpitch softball for the Knights of Columbus until the league disbanded.
Dave loved bowling and participated in many different leagues. He and Rosie later purchased a camper trailer and spent many summers in the mountains around the campfire. Playing pinochle was another favorite pastime and he could make time for a game just about anywhere. He especially loved traveling to watch his kids and grandkids play sports and perform in plays and concerts.
Having coffee with his brother from another mother, Roland Webster, was a weekly highlight. He also loved his visiting nurses.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary of Blackfoot; his children: Karen (Eddy) Shafer, of Blackfoot, Dori Blackmon of Boise, Kevin (Kim) Jones of Twin Falls, Kathy Rhead (Brett Butler) of Blackfoot, JoAnn (Matt) Chavez also of Blackfoot; one brother, Dale Jones of Creswell, Oregon; two sisters, Virginia Atwood of Bend, Oregon and Donna (Eldon) Flynn of Quincy, Washington; eight grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; a special nephew, Gail Jones; and his son-in-law, Craig Blackmon.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., with Father Jose Gonzales officiating. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
