Della S. Pixton Obituary
Della S. Pixton, 100, of Boise, Idaho and formerly of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at her daughter's home.
Della was born March 21,1916 in Ora, Idaho to Samuel Franklin Smith and Edith Elizabeth Mitchell. She was the sixth child of eight with two sisters and five brothers. Della lived in the Riverside and Blackfoot area since the age of four, attending grade school in Riverside and graduating high school in Moreland in 1934 as the class valedictorian.  
She married Thadeus Trego and they were later divorced. In 1953, she married Burdette Pixton in Shelley. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 21, 1999.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Burdette Auto Body Shop and White Glove Car Wash. She served as Treasurer for the DOES for five years. In her free time she enjoyed traveling to many places, including Spain, Mexico and Hawaii. She liked to fish and hunt, bagging her own six point Bull Elk! She also raced snowmobiles, she was one of the first women to cross from Wolverine to Alpine, Wyoming on a snowmobile.
In the LDS church, she served as a primary teacher, birthday specialist, and other callings including laundering the Sacrament cloths for many years. She also crocheted more than 2,000 stocking caps for humanitarian services.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Karen) Trego of Star Valley, Wyoming, Lamar (Bessie) Trego of Richland, Washington; daughter, Julie Ann (Darwin) Gifford of Boise; step sons, Stephen (Earlene) Pixton of Aztec, New Mexico and Lt. Colonel William T. (Deborah) Pixton of Atlanta, Georgia; step-daughter, Peggy (Bob) Briggs of Cheney, Washington. 20 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great- grandchildren.
Della was preceded in death by her parents; husband Burdette; and brothers, Franklin Smith, Lowell (Alice and Merle) Smith, Fayette (Lola) Smith, Rulon (Frances) Smith, Dennis (Reoma) Smith and sisters, Areta (Theron) Chamberlain, Fredrice (Merrill) Morgan. five great- grandchildren, Adyson, Kaden, Kyler, Preslie Gifford and Conner Pixton. 
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Blackfoot Third Ward LDS Chapel, 845 Grant Street. The family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.    
Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to the Bingham County Senior Center.
