Earl DeLayne Trappett Obituary
Earl DeLayne Trappett, 82, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at The Gables in Blackfoot.
He was born Oct. 3, 1934 in a farmhouse in Grace, Idaho the son of Earl W. and Cynthia Crandall Trappett.
Earl attended grade school in Pocatello and graduated from Firth High School. He has lived in the Blackfoot area since 1965.
On Dec. 2, 1955, he married the love of his life, Dixie Yvonne Bench in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She preceded him in death on March 20, 2017.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Varsity Scout Leader, High Priest Group Leader, YM President, Activity Committee and served two missions, one at Church Employment Office and a second with his wife Dixie for the Improvement in Living Mission.
He was also a member of the Jaycee Club
Earl worked for the railroad in his early years. He helped is father-in-law in the heating and air business and then started his own careers as a grocer at Crooks in Shelley, Dan's Mighty Market, Keslers and Albertson's until his retirement on April 21, 2000.
He enjoyed driving his Ford Truck, playing pinochle, camping and spending time with his family and grandkids.
He is survived by his children, Marsha (James) King of Rock Springs, WY, Vickie (Ronald) Thornton of Blackfoot, Kevin (Vaneta) Trappett of Tooele, Utah, Robin (Henry) Johnson of Henderson, Nev., and Chad (Cheri) Trappett of Blackfoot; brother, Keith (Jackie) Trappett of Council, Idaho, sister, Linda (Pete) Sorensen of Wapello;  16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dixie, brother Bud Trappett and sisters, Rose and Naoma Trappett, a son-in-law Mont Stuart, and two great grandchildren, Ashalynn Merrill and Jacob Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16 at the Blackfoot 14th Ward LDS Chapel, 900 Riverton Rd., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho and for one hour prior to the service at the stake center.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
